Our Technology

Our labs were developed using microfluidics-based lab-on-a-chip technology that enables cost-effective research in microgravity.
These labs provide an agile platform that delivers unprecedented results unattainable under terrestrial conditions.
The same labs can be used on various microgravity platforms such as parabolic flights, low orbit nano satellites and onboard the International Space Station.

Spactory

The factory of the future

The Spactory is a large capacity system for performing multiple experiments (such as factorial design tests) or for the manufacturing of production quantities. It is designed to be flown on board of current and future manned and unmanned space platforms.

It is currently being developed as part of the EIC Accelerator. Find more information on the project here.

Fluid Management System

SPuMP (Space Pharma Microgravity Miniaturized Pump), D-Pump (Diaphragm Pump) and Multiplexed Pump are new miniaturized, accurate pumping systems, developed for SpacePharma’s microgravity research activities in space.

Unique features

Check mark
Built for harsh environments
Check mark
Non-pulsating, positive displacement pumping
Check mark
Air bubble free operation
Check mark
Delivers precise flow rates ranging from 10 to 500 microliters per minute.
Check mark
Built in temperature control (heating and cooling) for pump and reservoir.

Comprehensive Flow Management Possibilities

The SPuMP is a 2 ml syringe pump operated by a step-motor. The syringe reservoir is temperature controlled. Up to 4 SPuMP-s can be separately controlled from one main controller.
The D-Pump is a diaphragm pump with temperature-controlled 1.2 ml reservoir. It is hydraulically driven by a SPuMP, acting as an accurate hydraulic driver.

The Control board, manifold and valve systems enable independent Operation of 4 SPuMPS, each driving two D-Pumps, acting together as a Multiplexed pump, where each D-Pump is operated independently with repeating pumping-refilling

SpacePharma’s Fluid management system has concluded 8 tours to the International space station and 3 parabolic flights.
